Arrest made in apparently random shooting at gas station

ROSWELL, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting at a Roswell gas station, trying to determine the shooter's motive.

The shooting happened at about 4 p.m. at a Food Mart gas station near the intersection of Old Dogwood Road and Holcomb Bridge.

Investigators said a man, identified as Lorenzo Leftenenant, was acting erratically and approached James Landingham and his girlfriend at the gas station.

"He appeared kind of strange. Kind of talking to himself. He really didn't say anything," Lisa Holland of the Roswell Police Department said.

Officers said he pulled out a gun, which the couple thought was a toy.

The man then shot at the couple, hitting the Landingham, and then ran into the woods.

Roswell police said they know robbery was not the motive for the shooting.

Leftenenant was charged with aggravated assault.
