Police Raid Home, Break Up Brothel And Website

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga.,None — Clayton County police said they charged two people with keeping a place of prostitution after receiving complaints from neighbors.

The SWAT team raided a home on Brookgate Drive in Ellenwood after receiving complaints from neighbors complaining about the amount of traffic going in and out of the house.

Officials said they discovered two people were running a prostitution operation out of the home and were using a website to market to potential customers.

Ebony Smoot, 26, and Cornique Jefferson, 21, were charged with keeping a place of prostitution and possession of marijuana.

Three others were also arrested in the home. Jaquill Murray, 23, Denetrice Foster, 19, and Ashleigh McDuffie, 19, were all charged with marijuana possession.

Steven Turner told Channel 2's Diana Davis he and other neighbors saw cars cruising the neighborhood at all hours.

Turner told Davis he had to rush his 2-year-old and three other children out of the way of suspected johns.

"I was deeply concerned and that was one of the reasons we met as a community and talked about what was going on," Turner said.

Investigators say men from metro Atlanta and across the Southeast were funneled to the home from a prostitution website.

A police spokeswoman told Davis they found several video cameras inside the home.

"We do have some further leads we are following, however we are hoping that by closing the house down they will go to another county," Captain Tina Daniel said. Sources that know the neighborhood told Davis that Smoot is the granddaughter of the homeowner. Police were working to seize the house.
