ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has obtained dramatic video of a man jumping on the counter of a store waving a gun as customers duck for cover in an Orlando Cash America pawn shop.
Atlanta detectives believe the video could be the key to solving similar robberies in the metro area.
In Orlando, the robbers took what they wanted in just seconds. The same type of robbery has happened in metro Atlanta at least three times.
According to Atlanta police Sgt. Tommie Collins, "we started backtracking, comparing notes with other police departments and came up with this pattern."
The Cash America pawn on Delowe Drive in southwest Atlanta was robbed by three men.
Armed men also hit a pawn mart on Cheshire Bridge Road, which has closed after the robbery and a Cash America pawn on Buford Highway in DeKalb County. In each case, at least one man had a handgun.
Collins said the men follow a pattern and seem to be hitting often, but when they struck in Orlando, the cameras finally got a good picture of at least one of the men.
"I think somebody will know that face. I believe their home base is here."
