Son of murdered Putnam Co. couple said case turned over Someone killed and beheaded 88-year-old Russell Dermond inside a lakefront home at Great Waters Reynolds Plantation. Deputies believe the same person murdered his wife, 87-year-old Shirley Dermond then dumped her body into Lake Oconee.
The home where Russell and Shirley Dermond lived in Eatonton, Ga., about 80 miles southeast of Atlanta. Russell was found beheaded in the garage in May 2014. His head was never found. Shirley’s body was found in the lake 10 days later.
