Movie Horror in Marietta

In the basement of a house in Marietta, movie magic is happening. Local movie director Ricky Hess came up with the idea for the “Horror Hotel” web series. He’s a big fan of “Twilight Zone” and Alfred Hitchcock. And all the stories in the series are set against the backdrop of a seedy hotel.
“I just sort of came up with the idea when I was visiting a friend,” said Hess. “And they said, ‘Don’t stay at this hotel over here; people get stabbed and killed.’ And I thought, ‘Who stays at places that are dangerous?’ and that’s where the idea was born.”
The productions have a mom and pop feel because a lot of the crew are family members. Lead actress Baby Norman loves the atmosphere. “It’s very cool,” she says. “There’s the director, and the father is a writer and the mother is a producer. I love them all. I feel like they’re my family, too.”
And the production has received a lot of attention. It has been recognized by Los Angeles Web Fest and Atlanta Web Fest. Hess sees himself producing and directing at least 100 episodes in the series.
He says, “When I’m done I’d just like to look back and say it’s something that I’m really proud of and that I really liked.”
