Massive fire destroys former tool plant in West Virginia

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. — Firefighters battled a massive fire at a former tool plant in West Virginia.

The fire started just before 1 a.m. Saturday at the former Ames plant in Parkersburg, WCHS said.

Residents were told to stay inside.

According to WCHS, dispatchers sent an alert that said, "Due to the fire located on Camden Avenue, a large amount of smoke is blanketing the Parkersburg and surrounding areas. It is strongly advised to stay inside or avoid the smoke from this fire, especially those who have respiratory issues."

The West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office will investigate the cause of the fire.
