Man Shot In Sandy Springs Apt. Parking Lot

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — A man was shot twice following an armed robbery attempt in Sandy Springs, police said.

The shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday at "The Falls" apartment complex at 3200 Spring Creek Lane in north Sandy Springs.

Police said two armed men, hiding behind a vehicle in the parking lot of the complex, confronted the victim.

The victim was shot twice, once in the wrist and once in the back, police said. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was last said to be alert and conscious.

Police said the victim struggled with the men and during the struggle, two weapons were dropped by the gunmen. Police later recovered those weapons. One of the weapons was a bolt-action rifle and the other was a small chrome semi-auto pistol.

Police said the perpetrators fled the scene.
