Man Accused Of Burglarizing Police Chief's Home

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A man accused of breaking into the home of a metro Atlanta police chief appeared in court Monday, the Henry Daily Herald reported.

Derrek McCree, 21, was arrested by Henry County police in connection with the May 16 break-in at the home of Lithonia Police Chief Kennis Harrell.

Harrell lives in Henry County.

According to the Henry Daily Herald, police said Harrell's badge and gun, among other items, disappeared during the burglary.

Henry County Magistrate Court Judge Robert Godwin set bond at $25,000.

Harrell retired from the DeKalb County Police Department in May 2010. He has been the police chief in Lithonia since November, the Henry Daily Herald reported.
