Woman says spa doctor burned hole in face

ATLANTA — A woman is suing a Buckhead medical spa after she says they burned a hole in her face during a photo-facial treatment.

With a large scar marking her cheek, she wants others considering cosmetic work to hear her story.

The woman sought the treatment at The Age Less center on Lenox Road. Her lawyers said she had a scab on her face, but a doctor at the center said it needed to be removed.

"He ripped off the scab, which wasn't pleasant," attorney Bryan Baer said.

He said the doctor treating the woman shouldn't have been performing that type of procedure at all.

"The reality is, he is a podiatrist. He is not a licensed physician under Georgia law. He's only allowed to treat from the knee to the ankles," attorney Tony Kalka said.

A manager at the center declined to answer Channel 2's Craig Lucie's questions over the phone. When Lucie went to the office, employees locked the front doors as Channel 2's cameras approached.

Kalka said others should always research the doctors involved before having any type of treatment done.

"It's OK to ask doctors about educational history," he said.
