Wife of U.S. Marshal killed in the line of duty gives birth

The wife of a U.S. marshal gunned down in the line of duty earlier this year gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Thursday.

Channing Wells welcomed Josie Wells Jr. into the world, just five months after his father’s death.

Josie Wells was shot and killed while serving an arrest warrant near Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 10. The four-year veteran was described as a man of dedication, faith, great love and compassion, who had always dreamed of being in law enforcement, just like his father.

Channing was pregnant at the time with the couple’s first child. At Josie Wells’ memorial service, attended by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Channing Wells spoke about her husband.

"As his body was being transported to the hospital, his final words to the guys that were with him were, 'Pray with me.' If that doesn't make you proud, I don't know what does," she said in March.

Channing Wells fought back tears as she spoke to her late husband.

"Josie, I want you to wait for me because in eternity, that's where forever is,” she said.

Thursday morning, Louisiana COPS posted two photos of the couple’s baby boy on their Facebook page.
