Wellstar nurses dress in honor of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday for Nurses Week

Tuesday marks International Nurses Day and the end of Nurses Week. If there was a time to celebrate nurses, this year is it. Nurses and other frontline workers have made sacrifices to keep us safe as we deal with the coronavirus crisis.

International Nurses Day is recognized every year on May 12 in honor of Florence Nightingale, who is credited as the pioneer of modern nursing.

Wellstar Health System nurse organized a white-out to celebrate Nightingale this year. The healthcare system shared with Channel 2 Action News photos of nurses all across metro Atlanta dressed in white.

A few nurses even got creative and modeled their looks after Nightingale. The hospitals also organized a food drive.
