Tractor-trailer hit by train after driver parks on railroad tracks, LaGrange police say

LAGRANGE, Ga. — A tractor-trailer driver received a citation after officials say he parked his vehicle on railroad tracks.

LaGrange police said on Monday at 5:37 a.m., officers received reports of an accident with injuries in the area of Douglas Street.

According to the investigation, 51-year-old John Jordan, a tractor-trailer driver, parked his vehicle on railroad tracks on Douglas Street.

While the tractor-trailer was parked, officials said a slow-moving train was passing through the area and hit the vehicle’s trailer, causing extensive damage to the trailer, its contents and the train engine.

Authorities said Jordan was taken to the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center for treatment after he complained of injuries.

Jordan was cited for parking in prohibited spaces.

No other injuries were reported at the scene.
