APD: 15 unsolved missing women cases since 2002

ATLANTA, Ga. — It has been a long and agonizing year for Sherri Sichmeller, one of many moms who have been living with the memory of their children.

“To have everything fall apart so fast – and to have her gone is unimaginable. I just don’t have words, really,” said Sichmeller.

Sherri told Channel 2's Nefertiti Jaquez that she doesn't have the words to convey her inconsolable pain.

She’s heartbroken because her daughter, Morgan Bauer, moved to Atlanta from South Dakota last year in hopes of “making it big.”

“She did end up on a stage but not the one she wanted to,” said Sichmeller.

TRENDING STORIES:

Atlanta police say Bauer worked as an exotic dancer in Gainesville before auditioning at Tease strip club.

Investigators say shortly after that audition and Bauer’s last Facebook post, the teen simply disappeared.

“From March the 12th until now, we have had no contact with Morgan nor had she had contact with her family,” said Sgt. Warren Pickard with the Atlanta Police Department.

Morgan Bauer isn’t the only female who has disappeared.

Since 2002, police said they have 15 open cold cases of women, varying in ages, who have mysteriously vanished.

“We are following a trail and sometimes that trail goes cold quickly,” Pickard said.

Detectives are hoping that if the public is able to see their faces, then maybe someone will say something.

As for Sherri Sichmeller, all she wants is her daughter back.

“I just want to know where she is, I just want to know she’s OK,” said Miller.
