Toddler killed in west Georgia house fire

TALLAPOOSA, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has confirmed that a child was killed in a house fire Tuesday in Tallapoosa.

Firefighters were called out to the home at about 10 a.m. on South Kelley Street.

Investigators identified the child as 2-year-old Levi Andrew Robinson.

The Haralson County Fire Department said the home was heavily damaged.

The child’s father, Andrew Robinson, told Channel 2's Darryn Moore he and his family are mourning the death of Levi. He said the family was renting the home and had only been there for about two months.

A neighbor described the chaotic scene.

"She was just hollering, 'Get the baby, get the baby, the baby's in there, he's on fire,'" a resident said.

Another child, a 3-year-old, was also in the house and transported to a local hospital after suffering minor injuries, according to spokesman for the Insurance Commissioner, Glenn Allen. He was transported to a hospital in Augusta.

The children’s pregnant mother was also taken to the hospital with minor burns to the hands and face. Investigators say she suffered smoke inhalation. Andrew Robinson said the unborn child is fine.

Investigators say the father of the home left at 8:30 a.m and shortly after, the couple's oldest child left for school.

Investigators say the cause of the fire appears to be electrical.

Andrew Robinson asked Channel 2 Action News to share a link to a fundraising website.
