Thieves stole guns from pawn shop

VILLA RICA, Ga. — Villa Rica Police are searching for two young burglars who stole 14 handguns from a pawn shop.

Investigators said the suspects could be as young as 15 years old.

Villa Rica Pawn Shop owner Dennis Brown showed Channel 2's Carl Willis surveillance video that shows the pair smashing a glass door and entering the shop around 2:30 a.m. back on May 29.

"All of our pawns are pretty much untouched," said Brown. "They didn't go in the back, they just went for the easy stuff, which is the sale items which are in the counter."

Villa Rica investigator Eddie Thomas said he needs help from the public identifying the burglars.

"It's a major concern to the public safety because these two boys took 14 guns," he said. "So, there are 14 guns out on the streets, for what intentions we don't know."

One of the suspects stuffed more than a dozen handguns into a backpack.

On the way out, it appears that he hit his head on a bar handle on the door.

"Somebody may remember the next day seeing him with a little injury, a bigger injury or a headache," said Thomas.

The store owner said one of the guns that was stolen should be easy to identify.

It's a Taurus brand .357 that was discontinued in 2006. Brown said it's a "Spectrum Blue" revolver.

Since the break-in, Brown has been increasing his security and is installing bars on the doors and windows.

He said he'll take a closer look at video taken in the days before the burglary.

"I'll be reviewing the past week's footage to see if I can't catch whoever it is in the store scouting the store."

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call the Villa Rica Police Department at 770-459-5149.
