GRIFFIN, Ga. — A Griffin man is recovering from his injuries after he was shot by his ex-girlfriend on Tuesday. A friend of his, though, came to his defense and began firing back.
When officers arrived to the North 9th Street scene, they found a man standing near a car with bullet holes.
He told police he was in Lithonia picking up his friend who had told his ex-girlfriend he no longer wanted to be in a relationship with her.

The pair of men were driving back to Griffin when the ex-girlfriend, identified as 29-year-old Latonya Tucker, began following them. He told police Tucker tried to run the men off the road several times.
At a certain point, the man let his friend out of the car so he could run from Tucker.
When she saw him get out of the car, she turned her car and began following him. When he would not stop, she reportedly pulled out a handgun and began shooting, hitting him in the left hip.
The man on scene told investigators that when he saw Tucker start shooting, he pulled out his own handgun and began shooting from inside his car, damaging his windshield.

Tucker drove away and was arrested in Cobb County Wednesday. She is being held in the Spalding County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix stated, “[He] exercised his 2nd Amendement right [and] was not charged because he was well within that right, and Georgia law to fire his weapon at Tucker. He was lawfully trying to stop Tucker from causing death or great bodily harm to [the victim] as allowed by Georgia law. He did exactly what the statute allows you to do while in defense of yourself or another person. After he fired the shots, he remained on scene until we got there, spoke to officers, was cooperative, and told us what happened.”
