Fulton County remains under the “high” community level of COVID-19 case transmission as of Wednesday morning. Mayor Khalid Kamau also cited the number of monkeypox cases rising in metro area.
“Dr. Paxton has suggested that we return to wearing masks indoors,” the mayor said, adding that Fulton County has a disproportionally high number of COVID and monkeypox cases. “I believe in trusting and following the science. It’s what I’ve done throughout this pandemic.”

The ordinance first passed in July 2020 with a few exceptions.
People don’t have to wear their masks if they are eating, drinking or smoking. People also aren’t required to wear a mask if they are working alone in an office and with the doors closed.
The ordinance does not apply to children 10 and under or those who can’t wear them because of medical issues.
