Police: Molotov cocktail thrown at home where 14-year-old was shot

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Police were called out to a home Wednesday morning where a shooting sent a 14-year-old to the hospital.

But it gets crazier: police said someone tried setting a fire at the home with a Molotov cocktail.

The investigation is focused on a home in the 4900 block of Wewatta Street. Police put up crime scene tape to shut off the road Wednesday morning.

Channel 2 Action News learned the 14-year-old who was shot is expected to be OK.

Officers took three people in for questioning at the scene. But police said no one has been charged with anything yet.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. Investigators collected a number of shell casings from the yard and street.

A scorch mark from the Molotov cocktail can be seen by the doorway.

One neighbor said he woke up when he heard a half dozen shots.

“I heard like a loud thunder noise but it sounded like a gun,” neighbor Jaylen Mitchell. "I’d say about 6-7 times and then that was it.”

We saw police take three people into custody, but none of them were charged.
