Minivan crashes into South Fulton home, pushes BMW out of garage

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Police are investigating what caused a mini-van to lose control and crash into a city of South Fulton home early Thursday morning.

The van crashed into the back of the garage at such a speed that it pushed the car inside out the garage door.

Channel 2’s Lauren Pozen spoke with Dr. Kenneth Augustus Walker. His parents own the home the van crashed into, along Wyncreek Drive.

Walker told Pozen his parents are currently in northern California, where they spend part of their time.

“I live close by, so I ran by to check out the damages for them,” Walker said. “I am in shock I’ve never seen anything like this happen before.”

Walker said his parents got a call from their homeowner’s association.

“He came down the embankment and hit this, and based on talking to the homeowner’s association, the guy may have had some kind of condition, but she also believes that he may have been speeding,” Walker said.

It took two tow trucks to get the van out of the garage. Neighbors drove by throughout the morning, curious as to what happened.

One neighbor told Pozen off camera she couldn't believe she didn't hear the crash.

Walker said he took pictures of the damage for the insurance and also to show his parents back in California.

“With that kind of impact, if there was a gas line, the three of us would not be standing here talking about it because this would have gone up in flames,” Walker said.

This is the second time this month that a vehicle has gone through a home in city of South Fulton.
