EAST POINT, Ga. — A South Fulton County pop-up test site offered both free tests for coronavirus and antibody tests on Tuesday.
Channel 2′s Tom Regan was in East Point, where testing had just wrapped up for the day in the parking lot of Chapel Hill Church.
For two hours, Regan watched a steady stream of cars pulling into the pop-up testing site, and many people were eager to take advantage of two COVID-19 tests at the same time.
“We’re offering free COVID-19 viral testing and antibody testing to anyone uninsured or who receives Medicare and Medicaid,” East Point Mayor Deana Ingraham said.

People who want to get tested don't need to be symptomatic or get a doctor's referral to get tested and also don't need an appointment. Patients just need to preregister and pull in.
Pastor Jamal Baker said people are just grateful to have an opportunity to find out what their status is.
"We are just doing what we can to help serve the community and make people safe and healthy," Baker said.
Ingraham said the testing couldn’t have been more timely. There’s been a rise in the number of cases in East Point, and since the start of the outbreak, the city has ranked among the highest for coronavirus infections in South Fulton County.
"Right now it's critically important that we continue to prevent the spread, and we continue putting safety first," Ingraham said.
The mayor said about 150 tests were given. People should know their results in the next couple of days.
