The city council passed an ordinance unanimously at their Aug. 17 meeting. It became effective immediately.

Social Circle Police Chief Will Brinkley asked the council to set the curfew for anyone under 17-years-old. The curfew is in effect from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The city manager, Eric Taylor, told Channel 2 Action News that the curfew is something that will improve the safety and welfare of all citizens, including juveniles themselves.

Social Circle is in the southeast corner of Walton County and spills into parts of Newton County. The town, of just under 5,000 people, was ranked one of the safest cities in Georgia in 2020.
