MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA — A surfer in California is talking about a close call with a great white shark.

"I was surfing I was just about 3 feet out from the next guy, so I was just a little bit further out. So maybe I was the, with the red board, was this 'oh there's somebody boom," Eleanor Dempsey said.

She was able to catch a wave to get back to shore quickly.

After examining the bite mark, authorities estimate the shark was 6 feet long.
