• Serial rape suspect taken into custody

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Channel 2 Action News has learned a serial rape suspect is in custody.

Gwinnett County police told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh they located Joseph Sivonda at an apartment complex on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Duluth.

They said he was with a woman, though they don't believe she was ever in danger.

Sivonda, 23, was wanted in connection to five separate sexual assaults. Police said he was using Backpage.com to lure female escorts.

Three of the alleged assaults happened in a vacant apartment at the same complex where Sivonda lived with his family off Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross.
