School lockdown lifted after cops recover weapon from campus

ATLANTA — A northeast Atlanta school was placed on a soft lockdown Monday morning after reports of a weapon on campus.

Channel 2’s Ryan Young spoke with officials about the situation at Intown Academy on Pine Street.

Atlanta police said a parent called and alerted the school after her son told her he saw a weapon inside of the school. Police eventually found a set of brass knuckles inside and detained the student who brought it to the campus.

News Chopper 2’s Jason Durden flew over the school at about 11 a.m. He captured police cars parked along the outside as investigators checked out the scene.

Police lifted the lockdown just before noon. Police said no one was hurt.
