HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Cleanup is underway at a Henry County motel after part of the roof collapsed.
No injuries were reported in this roof collapse, but several cars were damaged.
The collapse happened at the Super 8 Motel on 1451 Hudson Bridge Road in Stockbridge around 1:30 a.m.
It is believed the roof came down during storms that passed through the area late Wednesday night.
The hotel manager told Channel 2's Gehlbach it was an “act of God” but wouldn’t say any more details.
One motel guest Gehlbach talked to says he heard huge bangs right outside his door.
"I was like 'Oh my God'. My first thought was someone's breaking into a car," Bitton Hucks said. "I end up going outside...the entire roof fell off."
Gelhback was at the scene while investigators with the Henry County Fire Department worked to determine the cause and if it's safe to keep the motel open.
Hucks told Channel 2 Action News he tried to get his money back for the room, and was told his own insurance would have to cover the damage to his car.
"They were extremely just awful, rude and refusing to give us a refund and calling the police on us," Hucks said.
