EAST POINT, Ga. — Detectives are trying to identify as many as six suspects who led police on a wild chase through the south terminal of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Monday.
Tywanna Davis told Channel 2's Liz Artz she lives in unit 79 at the Allen Hills apartments in northwest Atlanta.
She said it was her unit police converged on Monday afternoon and her three boys she said they were after.
"We going in for kill because they're armed and dangerous," Davis said.
Atlanta's tactical robot was prepared to enter, but a judge would not sign off on a search warrant.
Davis maintains her boys, ages 14 to 16, were not there and are innocent of any wrongdoing.
"We're you frightened?" Artz asked. "Yes I was. I was crying. I was crying for my kids," Davis said.
East Point detectives told Artz they have reason to believe otherwise. A police standoff, they told Artz, was the end of a wild crime spree that started several hours earlier in a nearby Walmart parking lot.
Lt. Cliff Chandler said an East Point police officer was injured after being rammed while responding to car break-ins in the lot.
Officers tried to stop the suspects who Chandler said were in a stolen vehicle.
Chandler told Artz the chase continued through the busy south terminal of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
"Leading police on a vehicle pursuit into the city of Atlanta airport 2 p.m., 3 p.m. in the afternoon is extremely dangerous," Chandler said.
The car chase ended, Chandler said, at Allen Hills and a foot pursuit began.
"We believe we had them barricaded inside of an apartment," Chandler said.
While Davis admits her boys were not in school Monday, she maintains their innocence.
The police officer who was rammed in her patrol car suffered a dislocated shoulder and fractured wrist, but is expected to be OK.
The driver of the stolen car, when identified, will face a felony charge of aggravated assault on a police officer.
If you know anything about this crime, you're asked to call the East Point Police Department.
