STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - DeKalb County police are trying to track down a gunman in the shooting of a man in a Stone Mountain apartment complex early Tuesday morning.

The unidentified 21-year-old ma was shot several times in a parking lot of the Highland Forest Apartments on Central Drive.

Residents told Channel 2 Action News they heard several loud gunshots around 12:30 a.m.

'It was like pow, pow, pow, pow. I started to hit the floor, that's how loud it was,” said LaShay Simmons.

Witnesses said they say saw the victim with two other men prior to the shooting and believe there was an exchange of gunfire.

The man died after he was transported to Grady Hospital.

Police said they are withholding the name of the victim until family members are notified. They also said they do not have a motive for the shooting and are investigating if it is linked to another overnight shooting in the same area.

    That victim survived.
