Police search for man who broke into Inman Park home

ATLANTA — Atlanta police gave Channel 2 Action News clear surveillance video showing a man waving both hands, staring into a security camera at a home on Waverly Way in northeast Atlanta.

Investigators say the man burglarized the home and spent an hour inside.

"It's real easy to hop over that fence into our backyard, and we've had some break-ins," neighbor Colleen Finn told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri.

Finn is president of the condo community association next door to the home.

Police say the man ransacked the home's garage and stole roofing scaffolding, knives, a screwdriver and even a ladder, which he then put on top of the GMC Acadia SUV he drove there.

"The car does not look familiar. The guy does not look familiar to me," Finn said.

Police say the SUV has tag number GA AT1479 and that tag was also reported stolen from the same neighborhood.

The homeowner told Viteri by phone he wanted neighbors to be aware of the man so the same thing didn't happen to them.

Finn said she would email neighbors to let them know to keep an eye out.

Atlanta police want anyone who recognizes the man to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
