Police: Man tried to snap photos of Kroger employee in bathroom

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned that a man was arrested at a Kroger in Clayton County for trying to take a picture or video of an employee while she was using the bathroom.

The incident happened at the Kroger on 3618 Highway 138, according to police spokeswoman JaQuitta Williams.

Williams says the woman was using the restroom when she heard what sounded like a phone taking pictures.  The woman saw a hand under the stall and she ran out and told security. Security went in and found the man inside the stall.

The man, identified as William Jones, 39, told police he went into the women’s room because the men’s room was locked. Police say Jones told security he had his phone out because he was talking to his wife on the phone. Jones was found in the stall with snacks, two beer cans and used condoms.

They don’t know how long he was inside the stall. At this time, police say they don’t know what was recovered on Jones phone.

"Unfortunately you even have to watch your back even when you're inside of a bathroom stall," said Williams.

Customers say this situation will make them extra cautious.

"Especially if you have small children, and you're rushing in. You're not thinking  to check the stalls beside you and that sort of thing," said customer Coupe Scott.

Kroger released the following statement to Channel 2 Action News:

"The safety of our customers and associates is first and foremost. Kroger is taking this matter extremely seriously and is cooperating with the Clayton County police department. We appreciate our associate's quick action and local security to help apprehend the suspect."
