Police, cadaver dogs search area where skull was found

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A team of two cadaver dogs, four handlers and three Fulton County police officers set off around 10 a.m. on Saturday into the woods in the 4400 block of Welcome All Road SW in Fulton County.

Sources tell Channel 2 Action News the search is in response to a neighbor's dog recently carrying a skull in its mouth to its owner.

Police say they are delving into unsolved missing persons cases because they don't believe the bones are fresh.

Officers told Channel 2's Rikki Klaus it will take a number of hours, if not days, for the dogs to sniff through the rough terrain for the other remains.

The 20 acres they plan to search near Welcome All Park include dense trees and brush. Alpha Search and Recovery, based in Atlanta, is providing the dogs and handlers.
