Police: 25 arrested in 'deadbeat parents' roundup

Police arrested 25 people they identified as being “deadbeat parents” in a roundup Saturday.

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Clayton County District Attorney's Office, The Clayton County Police Department, The Riverdale Police Department and the Clayton County Sheriff's Office conducted the joint operation.

The roundup was aimed at finding “deadbeat parents” that had outstanding warrants for child abandonment or child support arrest orders.

According to authorities, the roundup was done in hopes that children would benefit from the suspects paying outstanding amounts before their release.

They said the ultimate goal was to help children to have a happier holiday season.

The roundup resulted in 25 warrant arrests, 208 warrants attempted, 49 warrants cleared and five other arrests.
