ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell police are investigating the heist of high-dollar hair extensions from a beauty supply store.
The owner of PD&K Beauty Supply on Holcomb Bridge Road told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik thieves threw bricks through the front door of his business last Friday night and stole $15,000 worth of human hair extensions.
"Went straight to it, ripped it down, (and) straight back out," said Press Lane. "It was an in-and-out job. Probably took no more than 10 seconds, if that."
Lane told Petchenik thieves usually sell the stolen extensions on the street for a profit.
He said he doesn't have security cameras in the store because he always felt safe at his location at the corner of Holcomb Bridge Road and Highway 9.
"Now we are going to go ahead and install cameras, alarms, glass shatter protection," he said. "The whole nine."
Roswell police told Petchenik they had no leads, but were checking to see if this case might be linked other recent break-ins at a hair supply store in Sandy Springs.
The manager of Buddy Beauty Supply told Petchenik someone broke into the store in May and June, stealing upwards of $30,000 in extensions.
Lane said he's thankful he has insurance to cover his losses, but he said he's frustrated someone would target his small business.
"I don't see why people want to do something like this," said Lane. "Get a job and support your family and take care of people the right way. Don't come out to harm other people just to take care of yourself."
