12-year-old saves mother from choking on food

PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A 12-year-old girl is being credited with saving her mother's life by performing CPR when she started choking on an egg.

Kinsey Sifuentes was excited to put a face to the voice that guided her through the most heroic and chaotic experience of her young life.

"Your voice just calmed me down," Kinsey told dispatcher Barbara Morris.

The girl called 911 when her mom started choking and it was Morris who answered.

It happened two weeks ago in Paulding County when Kinsey's mother, Kimberly Glen, started choking on a boiled egg.

"I sat down and that was the last thing I remember," Glen said.

Kinsey and her 8-year-old sister Karina saw their mom was in trouble and raced over.

"I saw my mom's eyes close and that's when it started like kicking in that I may lose her so I started crying and Barbara told me calm down it's alright," Kinsey said.

The dispatcher call was Kinsey's only CPR training but she says with some help instincts kicked in.

"I just pushed down as hard as I could because I thought I may not get to see her tomorrow," Kinsey said.

She was able to push out the egg before first responders arrived.

Her very thankful mother says she always told her kids to call 911 in an emergency and she's also thankful they listened.

"As parents we always worry about our children but we need to worry about being around for our children also," Glen said.

Next up is official CPR training for Kinsey when she takes a class in a few weeks.

Her mom says this will definitely make it a lot harder to punish her anytime soon.
