Police investigate deadly shooting at Alpharetta home

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Police have launched an investigation after a shooting at an Alpharetta home Thursday morning.

Authorities say the 911 call came in around 9:50 a.m. about a possible shot fired or a loud noise at a home at 111 Wade Creek Road.

“(We got) a 911 call from a concerned citizen stating they had heard a gunshot or loud noise coming from the area here,” said George Gordon with Alpharetta public safety.

When officers arrived, they found a dead body in the home.

“It’s very nerve-wracking, and you’re not used to it,” neighbor Anne Marie Giordano said.

Officers say they have started a homicide investigation.

“We were treating this initially as a shooting incident. I can confirm that  we have one deceased person on scene inside the townhome, and therefore we have started a full homicide investigation at this point,” Gordon said.

Gordon says the investigation has just begun.

“You want detectives to come out with their expertise, you want to find out if there's witnesses or what they might have seen. We're just starting the investigative process," he said.

Neighbors say they didn’t hear anything suspicious, and are concerned about what happened.

“I’ve never had any problems here. It is a safe area,” Mike Denton said.

The medical examiner’s office has not yet released the identity of the victim.
