ATLANTA — A movie producer is offering cash to the thieves who broke into employees’ cars and stole computers containing valuable information.
Eric Tomosunas says he won’t call the cops if the criminals come forward.
"Bring it back. 10,000 bucks," he said.
Tomusunas works for Swirl Films and wants a happy ending to this story, which is why he hopes money talks.
"We put a $10,000 reward out for all four computers,” he said. “No questions asked. Just want to get those back."
Someone broke into three employees’ cars as they ate at restaurant in The Peach Shopping Center in Buckhead Tuesday night. The crooks stole two MacBook Pro laptops and two personal computers.
The computers contained valuable information needed for a movie they were about to start shooting in Atlanta.
"So the computers are pretty much worthless. It's the information that's on them," Tomosunas told Channel 2’s Tom Jones.
Tomosunas promises not to call police.
"We just want to get the computers back. Whoever brings them to us or however we can set it up, 10,000 bucks,” he said.
Swirl Films produces movies for digital DVDs and television. They've made about 10 movies in the Atlanta area. Employee Chris Askew says his car was broken into while shooting a movie.
“They broke in. I guess they got a hanger and got in the car,” Askew said. “Got the phone out."
The company says 10 employees' cars have been broken into in the two years they've been in Atlanta.
When asked why keep leaving equipment in the cars, Tomosunas said "Dumb mistake. Don't do it. No matter how quick you are, they may be quicker."
Thieves also broke into two cars at Fellini’s Restaurant that night. Police will be looking at surveillance cameras at the shopping center to see if the cameras captured the suspect or suspects.
