ATLANTA,None — An 18-year-old mother died after being struck by a van driven by her relative.
The crash happened on Macon Drive shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.
Atlanta police said Vanicie Gamble and her boyfriend, Aaron Ramey, were pushing their son in a baby stroller before the crash. The van driver, Fred Martin, told officers he saw Ramey waving his hands as he walked in the street, Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said.
"Fred Martin stated he veered his vehicle to the left to avoid Aaron Ramey and the victim suddenly appeared in front of the vehicle," Jones told Channel 2.
Gamble died from her injuries at Grady Hospital. Her mother was also a passenger in the van.
Jones said no charges have been filed.
