Manufacturer says they will ship cannabis oil if medical marijuana bill is passed

ATLANTA — A manufacturer of cannabis oil says they will ship the oil to Georgia if lawmakers pass a bill that's at the state Capitol. 
 
Channel 2 Action News has talked exclusively with a mother who says the oil saved her daughter's life and she knows it will do the same for countless others here in Georgia.
 
"Some of them have passed away in Georgia waiting for this and they never got a chance to try it," says Paige Figi.
 
Figi says she's ready to distribute cannabis oil in the state of Georgia, if lawmakers pass House Bill 1.
 
The bill would allow epilepsy sufferers access to cannabis oil that Figi says reduced her daughter Charlotte's seizures.  It inspired Figi to manufacture cannabis oil called Charlotte's web.
 
"For my daughter, this was lifesaving.  We had nothing left. She was in hospice seizing around the clock, 50 seizures a day," Figi said.
 
But law enforcement officials are concerned if lawmakers allow cannabis oil for seizures it will become a gateway for marijuana to soon be legal in the state. 
 
"There's a lot of concern, I get that. But we believe we've taken the safeguard we need and put them in place to make sure we do have access in a safe environment," said state Rep. Allen Peak, the bill's sponsor. "This is huge news that we hope there will be more manufactures who will take the risk and move for medical ward, so other citizens can have access to this cannabis oil."
 
State lawmakers did not pass a similar bill last year. 
 
Since then, Figi says about 17 Georgia families have moved to Colorado, where they have access to cannabis oil for epileptic children.
