DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A Decatur man will spend life in prison after a jury found him guilty of killing another man with a “ghost gun.”
DeKalb County prosecutors said Azavier Lilly, 27, shot and killed 28-year-old Rashad Walker at an apartment complex on Candler Road in March 2025.

The shooting happened after Walker and his girlfriend got into an argument because he had taken her phone, according to investigators. The fight turned physical, and the two exchanged blows in front of a crowd.
After the fight ended, Walker’s girlfriend went into a friend’s apartment. A short time later, she heard multiple gunshots.
Surveillance video showed four men who had watched the fight confront Walker in the breezeway. Investigators said the group attacked Walker, and Lilly opened fire, killing him.

Police did not recover the gun used in the shooting. A Georgia Bureau of Investigation technician testified that bullets recovered from the scene came from a “ghost gun,” which is assembled from parts that do not have serial numbers and cannot be traced.
A jury found Lilly guilty of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
DeKalb County Superior Court Chief Judge Shondeana C. Morris sentenced Lilly to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
