LSU goes extra mile to make USC feel at home

The LSU pep band fires it up for their team prior to the start of their game.

BATON ROUGE, La. — This weekend, SEC fans are seeing southern hospitality at its finest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

After historic flooding hit the state of South Carolina, the University of South Carolina made the decision to move this weekend's football game against LSU to the Tigers home stadium in Baton Rouge.

It wasn’t an easy to decision to move a home game against one of the SEC’s top teams, but it was the best decision for everyone involved.

And though LSU may be playing a “road” game at Tiger Stadium, the university is doing its best to give the South Carolina Gamecocks a hometown atmosphere for Saturday’s contest.

Carolina’s band tweeted earlier this week that it would not be able to attend the game.

LSU immediately stepped in to help. The team's athletic band director said that LSU's marching band will learn both South Carolina's fight song and its alma mater to play during the pre-game festivities in Baton Rouge.

But that’s not all. Both the team and the city are taking every step they can to make USC feel at home.

LSU is no stranger to the issues South Carolina is dealing with.

LSU coach Les Miles offered his support to the university and the state earlier this week.

“We want to support South Carolina in anything they want to do,” Miles said during the SEC teleconference. “We have been through weather issues here.”

Miles was forced to travel to Tempe, Ariz., 10 years ago for a game against Arizona State after Hurricane Katrina demolished much of Louisiana.
