A longtime Georgia high school basketball coach has died after a battle with COVID-19, school officials said Saturday.
Lee Hill, 68, was a coach at Statesboro High School and was the winningest basketball coach in the state of Georgia.
Hill had been battling the virus since June, according to the Statesboro Herald.
“Coach Lee Hill was Statesboro High,” school officials wrote on Twitter. “He was a great mentor and leader for the Blue Devil Nation. Simply, he was a legend. His echos will forever ring on.”

Hill coached for 42 years, had 877 playoffs and reached state playoffs 30 times, according to WJCL.
It’s been a heartbreaking summer for the Statesboro Blue Devils.
Senior player O’Jaryn “O.J.” Reese died after collapsing at an AAU game in Atlanta in July.
