Neighbors concerned about lack of cleanup after killing

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Residents of a local neighborhood in south Fulton County say a house on their street where a homicide took place has them so concerned at this point they just want it demolished.

The residence was the scene of a slaying back in September.

There are still no arrests in the case and the house has not been cleaned up.  Channel 2's Liz Artz went to the home, where work began this week.

Neighbors tell Artz that for 4 and 1/2 years this house has sat the way it was found after their neighbor was brutally killed inside.

Now, a generator keeps them up at night, but even more disturbing is this warning sign posted on the door advising people not to enter the area because of what's going on inside.

The house in the 100 block of Marcliff Court was once the home of Dume Ejuba. The 51-year-old was well-liked by his neighbors and his home was a welcoming sight, until Sept. 24.

Police say Ejuba was stabbed to death, and his lifeless body sat for two weeks before being discovered. Neighbors say his house sat nearly five months in the condition it was in after the violent slaying.

“The blood...was on all four corners of the walls and the ceiling," neighbor Glenda Brewer said.

Neighbors say a generator keeps them up at night, a neon blue light glows from the windows and a warning sign has them most disturbed.

“No one has given us any ideas as to what was going on here," neighbor Chris Hunt said.

Detectives could not give Channel 2 Action News an immediate update on the case. Artz spoke to Ejuba's family Saturday night and was told police have warrants for a female who allegedly attempted to steal thousands of dollars from the victim, but no word on a murder suspect.

“As far as I know, the person is still free walking around. Yeah, I’m a little uneasy," Brewer said.

Brewer said she’s also concerned about having a health hazard next door.

“We just really want the house demolished," Brewer said.
