Kroger armed robbery leads to cross-county chase

ATLANTA — Police are searching for a group of robbers who led them on a chase from Atlanta to DeKalb County.

Police said a man was robbed at gunpoint by a group of men early Tuesday morning in the Kroger parking lot in the Edgewood Shopping plaza on Moreland Avenue.

The victim gave police a description of the car and officers spotted the Lexus a short time later in south DeKalb County, police said.

Police said the men ran from the Lexus when officers tried to pull them over on River Road.

"One of the subjects turned around and pointed a weapon at the officer, the officer fired some shots and no one was hit," Capt. Todd Coyt of the Atlanta Police Department said.

With help from a helicopter, one of the men was captured, but two more got away.
