ATHENS, Ga. — Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday for a man charged in a hit-and-run crash that nearly killed a college student.
Clarke County prosecutors said William Heaton drove drunk in February 2013. Emily Bowman was walking to meet friends in Athens when she got hit.
Bowman suffered a traumatic brain injury and is now confined to a wheelchair.
In November, Bowman was hospitalized after a series of seizures.
At least 10 percent of patients with traumatic brain injuries like Emily's have seizures. Her parents hope medication will control them and prevent future problems.
Heaton is facing 13 charges.
