Possible sale of stolen cars on Craigslist investigated

DECATUR, Ga.,None — DeKalb County police are searching for a man who they said may be selling stolen cars on Craigslist.

Neighbors alerted Channel 2 Action News Friday morning to police activity on Marcello Court  in Decatur near where Interstates 20 and 285 meet.

A commander at the scene would only say that police were there in relation to an ongoing investigation into the sale of potentially stolen cars on Craigslist.com.

"It might be tied in with some other craigslist crimes." said Lt. D.A. Steward. "We were doing a search warrant at this home because we believe this is where the information was placed on craigstlist."

Neighbors told Channel 2 Action News reporter Tony Thomas that the man who lives in the home is known as the "neighborhood car guy," always fixing up and selling vehicles.

Neighbors were reluctant to say much until they spoke with their the man they call a friend, but say they have never suspected anything illegal operating out of the suburban house.

Police didn't say who they were looking for but Lt. Steward did say there was "still a subject outstanding."
