Man who waved gun around outside Henry County schools arrested

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — A lockdown at three Stockbridge schools was lifted Thursday afternoon after a man with a gun was taken into custody.

Woodland High School, Middle School and Elementary School dismissed students as usual after the volatile situation ended.

Sheriff Reginald B. Scandrett said 24-year-old Shelby Mark Poss was taken into custody without injury.

The Sheriff said a parent reported seeing Poss waving a gun around in front of the school Thursday morning.

The parent told her children to duck as she drove past him into the school’s parking lot.

Poss ran toward the school, triggering a response that involved several local law enforcement agencies.

Authorities secured a perimeter around the three schools in the area.
