Police searching for alleged Walmart groper

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — The Henry County Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a man who sexually assaulted a woman at the Hudson Bridge Road Walmart in Stockbridge.

Police say the suspect rubbed up against and groped at least one woman inside the Walmart. The suspect approached more than one woman during this visit to Walmart.

One woman told Channel 2's Wendy Corona the suspect kept trying to talk with her, but she kept telling him to leave. Henry County Police Lt. Joey Smith says individuals will test the waters, and it usually leads to more.

"Once they see how confident they are, and how they can get away with things sometimes, they sometimes graduate to other more serious crimes," Lt. Smith said.

Walmart surveillance video captured the suspect approaching several women, but so far only one has come forward. "So he grabs my hips from behind, and rubs his private area against my backside," says the victim. "He kinda smiled. He thought it was funny."

The victim says the suspect finally left her alone after she threatened to get security involved.

The suspect was seen driving away from the Walmart in a red Chevrolet Cobalt.

Police describe the suspect as tall with an average build and shoulder length dreads. During this incident, he was wearing a green hat and black jacket.

Anyone with information on the identity of this suspect is asked to call Detective Baugh at 770-288-8387.
