GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — UPDATE: Empire State Pizza and Dogs in Gwinnett was re-inspected on Dec 15 and scored a 90. They had a 59.
A Gwinnett County restaurant has failed three health inspections in a year and a half.
Empire Pizza and Dogs on Five Forks Trickum Road in Lawrenceville just got a score of 59 this month. Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge first reported on Empire State Pizza and Dogs in May of last year.
The Gwinnett County Health Department suspended the permit for the Lawrenceville restaurant after it failed two consecutive health inspections.
In February 2014 the restaurant got a 61. Then in May 2014, it got a score of 56. It has now has failed a third time with a 59 on Dec. 4.
In the latest inspection report the inspector didn’t detail the violations.
The owner did not want to do an interview about the latest score.
In 2014 he told Sbarge he was embarrassed by the failures and said he accepted full responsibility.
After that, Empire Pizza and Dogs turned things around and got two scores in the 90s this year, with a 97 and a 94. But now it has again dropped to an unsatisfactory score.
We’ll let you know the new score when the re-inspection is done this month.
