Georgia woman struck by two cars after standing in middle of road, officials say

BLECKLEY COUNTY, Ga. — A woman was hit by two separate cars after Georgia State Patrol said she was standing in the middle of the road.

GSP said Chedeline St Louis of Stone Mountain was standing in the road between the left and right northbound lanes of State Route 87 when a Kia Optima approached her that was traveling north in the right lane.

The Kia hit St Louis with its left side near the front left fender.

The driver of the Kia told troopers she was traveling behind another car just before the crash.

Troopers said the driver in front of the Kia conducted an abrupt right turn as if the driver was attempting to avoid something. The driver of the Kia told officials that is when she hit St Louis.

In addition to the Kia hitting St Louis, GSP said a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north in the left lane on State Route 87 when it hit the woman after the Kia.

According to authorities, the Silverado struck St Louis with its right-side tires while the victim was lying in the left northbound lane on State Route 87.

The driver of the Chevrolet told troopers that he observed St Louis lying in the roadway and that he attempted to maneuver his car to the left to avoid her but was unable to do so.

GSP said after being hit twice, St Louis came to rest in the left northbound lane on State Route 87.

St Louis’s condition is unknown, and other injuries were involved in the crashes.

It is unknown why St Louis was standing in the middle of the road.
