Landmark Diner on Cheshire Bridge Road fails health inspection

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Northeast Atlanta restaurant that has been around for decades failed a recent health inspection. The owner of the Landmark Diner on Cheshire Bridge Road says the inspection happened when he was out of town.

Tommy Tzikas says he’s been running the Landmark Diner on Cheshire Bridge Road for about 12 years.

On June 2, the 24-hour restaurant failed a health inspection with a score of 61. The owner told Channel 2's Carol Sbarge he was out of town that day and that's what he thinks happened.

The violations included some food not held cold enough, the inside of the microwave with food debris buildup, openings and gaps in the back screen door that would allow pests or bugs to get in and multiple food storage containers with cracks or missing pieces.

TRENDING STORIES:

The score of 61 was a big drop-off from the previous inspection. In September, the restaurant got a perfect score of 100. Tzikas says he actually appreciates the inspector pointing out problems and met with the health department today to go over everything.

The owner says he’s made clear to his employees what they need to do to make sure all the food safety regulations are followed. He says the diner is in an older building so he’s looking at what needs to be done concerning that.

The Fulton County Health inspector will re-inspect this month.
