DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Residents in Douglasville held a candle light vigil for a man, woman and two children who were killed by the woman's ex-husband last weekend.
Phyllis favors cried for her daughter Latoya Andrews and her two grandchildren Saturday night who were all shot and killed at their Willow Tree Circle home one week ago.
Candles were lit for each victim - from the youngest, to the adults. According to police, Cedric Prather killed his ex-wife, her boyfriend, two of his young children and then shot himself.
All of the people at Saturday's vigil were friends and family of all five victims.
"It wasn't just our family that suffered a loss, it's at least three other families and their extended families. There was so much love shown to my daughter be my daughter showed love," said Phyllis Favors, Andrew's mother.
Loved ones took turns telling stories about the victims. One of Andrews' best friends, who only identified herself as Terry, said she spoke to Andrews on the phone for about an hour the night before she was killed.
"The only thing I could remember her saying was, 'Terry, things are happening so good for me and coming together, I feel like something is going to happen.' But I didn't think it would be anything like this," terry said.
Only one child wasn't home at the time of the shooting.
That child sat in a car once the vigil started, because he couldn't take it.
Among the people at Saturday's vigil was the chief investigator for the Douglas County District Attorney's Office, Scott Cosper. He said just because the suspect killed himself, does mean the DA's office isn't there for affected family.
